Croquet 2010

The Branch held the Annual Croquet Match on Sunday 12th September 2010 at St Kew the home of our President Admiral Alec Weir CB. Thanks to all the Shipmates who supported the event. We were joined by representatives from St Austell, Saltash, Portland, Bodmin and Falmouth and

others. Delabole played last years winners St Austell in the final after being three hoops down made it to the pin for a nail biting win.

The Bar-B-Que proves popular with Shipmates doing Chicken, Burgers Sausages etc. the raffle proceeds will go to the Padstow Sea Cadet Unit.


Shipmate Charles Newton

Delabole Branch's oldest Shipmate former Bunting Tosser Charles Newton served during WW2 from 1940 to 1946 and recieved a commision whilst serving in Icelandic waters, also served as
Lieutenant RNR from 1952 to 1956

Shipmates Family and friends Joined Charles and his wife Christine to celebrate his 90th birthday at the conservative club Camelford for Sunday lunch, when Charles's good health was toasted led by Branch President Rear Admiral Alec Weir

 

Visit to HMS Cornwall
Shipmates from Delabole Branch visited HMS Cornwall whilst the ship was berthed at Falmouth they were treated to a conducted tour of the ship and afterwards entertained in the Senior Rates Mess

Delabole Branch Standard Bearer Shipmate Clyde Ferguson awarded the No4 (Southwest) Area “Vic Cornwell Trophy”.
Donated by Bodmin branch the trophy is presented to the Male Associate Member who has done the most to further the aims and interests of the R.N.A. During the past year.
Clyde came to the branch’s rescue some 7 years ago when the branch members weren’t fit enough to carry the Branch Standard. Clyde has carried it ever since and in fact joined the branch as an Associate member 4 years ago, as has his wife Helen.

Trafalgar Night Dinner 2010

The Branch held their Trafalgar Night Dinner at the Poldark Inn Delabole on Friday 22nd October. A thouroughly wonderful evening was had we were entertained by our guest speaker Captain John Hinchliff MNI, MCILT who told us of his exploits in the Bahamas
