The Jacqui Ward Trophy 2015

Shipmate Monica White being presented with the trophy by The National President Vice Admiral John McAnally CB LVO Guest at the Reunion whilst Deputy Chairman Peter Shoesmith looks on.

The Jacqui Ward Memorial trophy is awarded annually in memory of a former Social Secretary of Delabole Branch. who was an enthusiastic worker for the R.N.A.
The Trophy is awarded to any Lady member of No.4 Area who has furthered the aims and interests of the R.N.A. during the past year. The award is presented at the Annual Reunion by the Deputy Chairman.
The recipient for 2015 is Shipmate Monica White

Her Citation reads

Monica is the wife of a shipmate who joined Portland Branch in 1982 whilst still serving with the Royal Navy.
She joined the RNA as an Associate member very soon after, and immediately they both got in on the annual pilgrimage to Barton Hall, the venue for many years of our Area Reunion.

Her husband soon joined the Branch Committee, and in 1986 became the Branch Area Delegate, which led to him joining the Area Committee.

For almost 30 years this Lady Associate Member has given outstanding loyal support to her husband, in all the positions he has held, and indeed continues to do so.

In more recent years she found herself attending functions at the highest levels, throughout the UK and in Europe. She was always comfortable in the company of members of the Royal Family and high ranking officers of the Royal Navy and European Navies, and in her own way represented _ in no small way - the Royal Naval Association.

On some occasions she even enjoyed the privilege of being the 'unofficial' lady escort on the arm of our National President.

Portland Branch is delighted to put forward her name for consideration for the Jacqui Ward Trophy.

Area Croquet Match 2014

The Annual No4 Area Croquet match which until he Crossed the Bar this year, was held for many years at the home of Delabole Branch President Rear Admiral Alec Weir CB. The 2014 event was hosted by the St Austell Branch at the Cornwall Croquet Club.
Bodmin, Delabole, Liskeard, and St Austell Branches were represented along with the Area Chairman Ron Burdekin of the Falmouth Branch.
There were no overall winners as the Matches had to be abandoned when the professional club players took to the lawns. However a super afternoon was had by all. Shipmate Colin Armstrong presented Delabole Branch with a silver cup to commemorate Admiral Alec's contribution to the event.
